After watching the show, Million Dollar Decorators, I quickly fell in love with Mary McDonald's bold interiors (also fell in love with Jefferey Alan Marks' Interiors, but I will save that for another post later).
Anyways, Mary McDonald is a local Los Angeles based Interior designer who continues to combine old fashioned elegance with modern and bold patterns.

Don't you just want to move right into this office?! So chic and classy! The black frames and details add a punch to the pale blue and white decor. Within the closet door frames, she added painted cork trimmed in black grosgrain, Genius idea! Definitely unique.
There is always something unexpected found in each of Mary's interiors, such as this bold geometric patterned rug. I love how she used the Navy and Pink color scheme. And just look at those legs on that coffee table, they are stunning.

This painted floor makes me swoon! Just look at all that natural light coming through.
Have you ever seen anything like these large seashell pieces grouped together. Love it! I've noticed that Mary usually adds symmetry in her interiors with two large focal point lamps. You can go to her website to find out more about her own beautiful lamp collection. Loving that ottoman wrapped in zebra print and nail heads.
I love how this living/family room is elegant and bold yet very functional. That basket full of fire wood is very welcoming.
I just received a copy of her new book, "Mary McDonald Interiors, The Allure Of Style" and am very inspired to read more about her and her interior design work.
What designers inspire you and why? Do you like to add bold patterns or color to your home interiors?
