Celebrity Family Friendly Home

Happy Friday! Are you ready for the weekend? I don’t have any big plans. I have a few new projects that I started working on that I am super excited about, so besides having some family fun, I might be doing some design research which is fun for me, ofcourse if my little guy naps! I will share more about that next week.

Anyways, I have been catching up on my design reading materials lately, seems like I never get a chance to read my “happy” mail as soon as it arrives.  I loved reading about Sir Elton John and his partner, David Furnish’s family friendly Beverly Hills home that was featured in the March issue of Architectural Digest. It was designed by Martyn Lawrence Bullard, love him!

The couple’s goal when purchasing their new home was to create a comfortable West Coast base for themselves as well as their two young boys, a two year old and a newborn!

They are both big art lovers so it was only expected that this home would be centered around art. The home is full of color, very fun yet calming.

Wow, did you notice those wall shelves? How could you not right? They are stunning! I there is an awesome book collection too. You can barely tell in this photo but the sofa has integrated white shelves along the back. Genius!

The master bedroom’s ceiling is covered in silver Mylar. Doesn’t it make the room appear larger than it already is? I love the simple bedding with the extra cozy looking blanket.

One of the Artists that Sir Elton John and Furnish collect pieces of, is Keith Haring. His work caught my eye and when I checked out his work online, I was inspired! Here are a few of my favorites….

Stars Show Off Their Closets

I truly enjoy looking at celebrity closets and dream about one day having my own! I came across these stunning dressing rooms from the Instyle website. Can you believe all the shoes!!? Some of these closets are bigger than my bedroom! Take a look and hopefully you will be just as inspired as I am.

Miley Cirus says "I wanted it to be very girlie and fashiony, kind of like a boutique," of her dressing room, in her North Hollywood home. Her mom assembled the chandelier and added every one of the crystals individually! I LOVE the hot pink and black color.


White Lucite and silver-framed doors conceal Kim Cattrall's 44-square-foot closet. She describes her closet as "a sanctuary with sunlight"!

Christina Aguilera's dressing room is so beautiful, I wouldn't want to leave if it were mine! Her shoes are grouped together by designer. The pink and leopard are so girly together and the deep red chandelier and curtains adds a touch of drama! Very Glam!

Olivia Wilde has a beautiful 19th-century mirrored vanity and say "It’s from the South of France and has never been restored"

Fergie designed her dressing room by herself with a boudoir-boutique feel.

Eva Longoria Parker's 133-square-foot master closet is full of gorgeous gowns, shoes, shirts and a coveted Hermes hot-pink crocodile Birkin bag.

Nicky Hilton has two "very organized" couture-filled walk-in closets.

Kimora Lee Simmons combined two bedrooms in her Saddle River, N.J. home to create her expansive walk-in closet! It contains over 500 pairs of jeans, 35 custom-made Hermes Birkin bags and an extensive collection of jewelry. WOW!! It even has a mini-bar and flat screen tvs! This closet still isn't big enough to hold all her clothes—the overflow is stored in other bedroom closets. "I'm very neurotic is what my closet says about me," she says. "It's always in great order."

Paula Abdul has all her outfits and coordinating accessories numbered with tags so she can easily pack for trips and events. Her shoe collection is made up mostly of high-heels! "I always wear heels unless I'm working out," she says.

Mariah Carey has an enormous, climate controlled closet in her 12,000 square foot Manhattan triplex. However, the closet still can't contain all of her shoes. "I have about 1,000 pairs of shoes. But lots are in storage," she says.

Jamie-Lynn Sigler's 200-square-foot closet was created by Anthony's Custom Closets in Long Island and the new design helps keep designer dresses, bags, countless pairs of Genetic jeans, and over 75 pairs of shoes organized.

Maria Menounos transformed a massive upstairs space into what she calls "office/hair-makeup-and-dressing room," which houses her Azzaro and Calvin Klein gowns, 50 pairs of jeans, blazers, sweaters, and a cedar walk-in closet devoted mostly to rows of shoes and boots.

If you love antiques, check out 1stdibs.com. This is a wonderful place to visit...from your own home! I found out about this site from People magazine. Apparently, it's the "go-to" site for celebrity antique lovers. Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox are quoted saying that they spend a lot of time browsing 1stdibs.com...so try it out!
